Exercise + Eating Right = Weight Loss (or Your Fitness Goal). This is how it is always presented. It seems so simple, right? 1 + 1 = 2. I often times wonder, why is living healthy, losing weight, and reaching a fitness goal so ha
rd to do if the formula is written out so clearly. There must be something else. Something that helps the pieces fit together smoothly.
And then it hit me. On days that I am just stuck in a rut (about work, family, or whatever it may be) it’s much more difficult for me to pull it together to workout. I usually just want to soak in my sorrows but, on days when I am feeling empowered, motivated, and on top of the world, it’s nothing for me to grab my running shoes and add miles to them. Could it be true that motivation to eat right and exercise is somehow correlated to how you are feeling at any giving moment.
The experts say, “Exercise and you will feel better, your energy levels will increase, and your attitude will change in positive ways.” I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, studies have shown that exercise causes endorphins to be released into your body making you feel better… at least momentarily.
BUT WHAT IF WE LOOK AT THINGS ON THE FLIP SIDE…
What if we decided to feel better and be happy and use that energy to make us exercise, eat right and live healthier. I always say, happiness is a choice and, while it (or lack of it) seems to play such a huge role on what we do (or don’t do), it is something that we need to take control over.
I get it, life throws rough stones sometimes and it’s difficult to smile in spite of what’s going on but these are the times when your effort means the most. This does not mean be complacent. If you don’t like they way you look, or the way your finances are, or the way your relationship stands. I am not saying, “be happy, accept it , and deal with it.” I am saying be happy NOW, acknowledge the need for change, and be happier knowing that you are working to fix it.
Because I’ve learned the hard way, You will never be happy with anything new until you can be happy now. You will always find a problem to complain about if you don’t learn to just learn to be happy in spite of your current situation.
Every day practice the following things…
- Tell someone you love them
- Think about the things you have accomplished
- Give someone a compliment
I say all of this to say…..
CHOOSE HAPPINESS, IT CAN BE THE THING TO TAKE YOU THE FINISH LINE.
