Weekly meal planning is a crucial part of every fitness journey and healthy meal prep. Without it you are more likely to succumb to every day temptations like fast food restaurants, vending machines, or the delivery guy. Creating my healthy shopping list has become something that I truly look forward to each week. It’s actually the time when I get to map out my week as far as workouts, work, social outings, and eating is concerned. Below is my shopping list for the meals that I plan on eating this week. It does not include portions because my method to my clean eating madness is to write my list first depending on what I want to eat that week. Then I go through my kitchen and mark off things I already have. It also helps me to keep a healthy kitchen pantry as well. There is no right or wrong way to make your list. Just make sure each week you have the following things
Components of a Healthy Shopping List
- a variety of fruits and vegetables;
- meats that are lean;
- Whole wheat grains
- Fiber filled foods
- low sodium flavorings
- a variety of spices and herbs
You want to try your best to stay away from packaged and processed items. Frozen fruits and vegetables are okay. The items I chose this week are apart of the 3 day cleanse that I am starting to tone my abs and lose belly fat. It’s a system that I usually do a couple days before a big event or fitness shoot. Remember the key to have a nice lean and toned body is to spend more time in the kitchen making real foods.
